About this organisation

The Centre for Enhancement of Learning and Teaching (CELT) are integrating with the Faculty of Education, Law & Social Sciences (ELSS) to create a new Centre of Excellence, namely the Centre of Research in Education, which currently has some 30 research active staff.

The main aim of this new research centre is to interlink the broad spectrum of research activity in the teaching of early years with higher education and adult education.

The Research in Academic Practice Group will base itself largely, but not exclusively on the established work of the CELT and conduct high quality research into learning and teaching in Higher Education.

The Centre places importance on the continual support and development of teaching staff and new focuses for research groups will be Curriculum pedagogy and ways of developing creative teaching and learning processes and evaluation and practice of these to assist practitioners and policy makers.
